Draft Rules
These are the draft rules - the draft teams will draw in reverse order of how they finished in last year’s draft. If there are any new draft teams, they will draw after last year’s teams. If there are more than one new draft teams, the draw order of new draft teams will be determined by a draw of numbers.
Each team picks a total of 5 skaters (1 player each draft round) and 1 team for goalies. There will be an additional draft round to pick an additional player that can be substituted for one of your other players. This round will take place once each team has selected their 5 skaters and goalie.
So that means there will be seven rounds, six regular player rounds and one substitute player round. A player can only be picked by one draft team, so once they are picked no one else can get them. With potentially 16 people in the draft that means a total of 96 will be picked and 16 goalies. So there is some strategy involved, especially around the order of picking a goalie versus players.
Player substitution can only take place once (ie in the case of injury or team eliminated). Once the substituted player has been replaced he cannot be re-added to your line up. So that means you only get one substitution. Points will only accumulate once player has been substituted. Substitutions must be made to the Draft Commissioner in writing (ie email or Contact Page).
Points Accumulation:
- a goal counts for 2 points
- an assist counts for 1 point.
- an over-time goal gets 1 bonus point.
- a short handed goal gets 1 bonus point
- an unassisted goal gets 1 bonus point
- a win for the goalie counts as 2 points (note: goalies can get assists, they count as 1 point)
- a shut-out in regulation time getting an additional 3 bonus points.
- if a player scores 3 or more goals (Hat Trick) in a single game, 3 bonus points will be awarded to that player. Goals scored in overtime will count towards the Hat Trick.
The entry fee for the draft will be $10.00 per team. Payout to the winner could be as high at $160, depending on how many teams are entered.
During the Draft player selection each Draft team will be asked for their prediction as to which team will win the Stanley. If a Draft Team correctly predicts the Stanley Cup champions they will be awarded 2 bonus points. Multiple Draft Teams could be awarded bonus points depending on their selections
The Draft Team with the least amount of points will host the Trophy Award ceremony, at the discretion of the Commissioner
The goal of the AINHLHPD is to record accurate points for each player. However, errors do sometimes occur and / or upon review by the NHL, changes are made after points have been tallied to the Draft web site. So with that in mind, during the Playoffs the Commissioner, at his discretion, will perform an audit(s) of player’s points to ensure that they are accurate. If discrepancies are found, they will be corrected and reported. Draft teams cannot protest point changes resulting from an audit. Each team is encouraged to review their points regularly and if an error is discovered to report the error to the Commissioner so that it may be corrected.
Prizes:
The draft team with the most points at the end of the playoffs will be declared the winner and receive the total amount collected in addition to the AINHLHPD trophy, there is no second place….winner takes all !
